Support Services
Physical Support
As you go through testing and treatments, our support services team works with your physicians and nurses to ensure your body stays as well and strong as possible. This can have a positive effect on your well-being before, during and after your treatment.
Fertility preservation
Before your treatment, our fertility preservation specialists can meet with you to discuss your needs and available options. Services include harvesting eggs or sperm, preserving them through freezing and transplanting them back into your body after treatment.
Genetic counseling
Understanding your risk factors for cancer allows you to make the most informed decisions about your healthcare. Genetic counseling can help determine your risk for different types of cancer. Genetic testing provides information about your risk factors for specific hereditary types of cancer, including breast, colon, ovarian, prostate and uterine.
Genetic counselors at The University of Kansas Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, are board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Certification. They follow the gold-standard guidelines set by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
